Therefore in the example outlined the commission would jump from $200 to $300 and so on. You can see from this that affiliate programs can soon generate a reasonable income from your site.

Unfortunately there are a great many affiliates out there already, many of whom struggle to make anything more than a few dollars a month. However, only a small amount of marketers invest sufficiently. When I say "invest" I refer to the investment of time and effort to gain learning. Understanding the basic methods of marketing is only the start of the necessary work. An affiliate would also need to have a basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization or SEO so that they may be able to market their site proficiently and generate the necessary traffic.

A great many affiliates make large amounts of money, some make $10,000+ a month but they did not achieve this overnight! Understanding affiliate programs will enable you to identify the better business opportunities available, understanding marketing will enable you to take advantage of these opportunities.
